Congress passed a last-minute budget agreement to avoid a shutdown, just in time to head home and celebrate a delicious Thanksgiving meal with their families. š¦
But 7 million new parents and babies could be sitting around an empty table soon. š½ļø
WIC serves HALF of ALL new babies born in the US, but if Congress doesnāt provide more funding, growing families might be forced to wait in line for food and formula they rely on. This is not acceptable! š¤±š½

"As much as some politicians would like us to believe that as parents, we're on our own to raise our children, the reason that millions of American families are in crisis right now isn't because they are bad parents, or have made bad decisionsāit's because the Republican Party has targeted parents and families for a generation."

An advocate with ParentsTogether described the increase in WIC fruit and vegetable benefit as "hands down the most valuable part of WIC for my family. She lamented that House Republicans' proposal amounts to more than a 50% cut for children and an approximately 70% cut for adult participantsā "that's barely enough to buy a carton of strawberries or blueberries!"
Experts Warn House GOP Bill Would Imperil Food Aid for 5.3 Million Kids and Postpartum Adults "We can't go back in time by letting even more families and babies in need go hungry!" said one mother. "I implore Congress to act now to ensure WIC receives the full funding it needs."
