Esta iniciativa binacional, con la colaboración de la iniciativa privada, brinda la oportunidad a estudiantes de primero o segundo año de preparatoria de desarrollar sus capacidades de liderazgo a través de la implementación de un proyecto enfocado a disminuir problemáticas sociales en sus comunidades. A friendly reminder that the application closes on January 12th, 2018. - While a little under a month may sound like a lot of time, keep in mind that you will need to allow time for teachers to complete recommendations and for you to write your essays. We would love to review ALL your applications, so keep this date in mind as you go on winter vacation!

Here is some more information regarding the U.S. Youth Ambassadors Program:
U.S. Youth Ambassadors Program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State. This program provides full scholarships for 120 students (15-17 year old) and adult mentors to take part in one of five, 3-week exchange programs to countries in Central and South America.
The program aims to develop a cadre of young adults in the United States who have a strong sense of civic responsibility, a commitment to their communities, an awareness of current and global issues, and strong interpersonal leadership skills. Participants will focus on program themes of civic education, leadership, and community service through the following activities: site meetings, experiential learning activities, leadership trainings, civic participation at the community level, mentoring by community, business, and NGO leaders, and volunteering. Additionally, participants will explore their host country via various subthemes such as social justice, environmental protection, entrepreneurship, multiculturalism, and civic activism.

NEW THIS YEAR: There are five single and multi-country exchanges available for 2018: Argentina & Chile; Brazil; Dominican Republic; Ecuador; and Uruguay. Applicants will submit a single application for consideration to participate in one of these exchanges. Applicants will indicate their exchange preference during the application process.
The application for U.S. students will be open until January 12, 2018.
