The Association of Black Social Workers – Metro DC Chapter was proud to participate in the 5th Annual Mental Health Awareness Walk this past weekend hosted by .💚

This powerful event brought together community members, advocates, and organizations in a shared mission: to raise awareness about mental health and continue breaking the stigma that too often prevents individuals—especially in the Black community—from seeking support.

We were also thrilled to have the President of Dr. LaTanya Townsend, join us for this event. Let’s continue raise awareness, engage in open and honest conversations, and end the stigma around mental illness.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚
The Association of Black Social Workers – Metro DC Chapter stands in solidarity with our community to uplift the importance of mental wellness. For far too long, stigma has silenced conversations around mental health in the Black community. It’s time to break that cycle.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness—it is an act of strength, courage, and self-preservation. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply not like yourself, you deserve support, understanding, and care.

Let’s continue to create safe spaces where we can speak openly, check in on one another, and normalize prioritizing our mental health. You are not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help.
