Bag Ladies

Since I was here last, “consistently”, I bought a house🏡 . I’m still in awe that I’m a whole entire homeownah! A first-timer.
The process to become one as a black woman, a black single Mother in this chew ‘em up and spit ‘em out of a market, in a pandemic😷, and be able to remain in DC, is a WHOLE. ENTIRE. TESTIMONY! I’m still in recovery💆🏾‍♀️, only just resuming shooting📸this month and so excited to be back at it! I came up against almost every barrier from redlining to self-doubt which almost always seeps in when making the biggest moves in your life.
But God🙌🏾! And amazing women in my life who held my hand and mentored me thru.
I’m the first to admit that I’m modest to my own demise but if there was ever a day💃🏾.
My theme(s) for 2022, self care and “live your best life.” This one 🐈 clearly understands the assignment and is settling in nicely. Happy International Women’s Day!

2 Sophomores + a Senior/Sophomore (dual enrollee). And then there's Mommy. I look at them often in awe as they stand before me as whole entire teenagers😮. And at myself even as the Mommy of three whole entire teenagers🤷🏾‍♀️! 1st day of school and nothing about this morning felt familiar after 18 months give or take of virtual learning. The morning felt foreign as heck till I started whipping up batter for pancakes 🥞. It all started coming back when I pulled out my camera 📸 and subjected them to first day pics. But of course😂.
We've talked till blue in the face about safety, protocols😷, etc. Dropped off 2 at High school and 1 at College. I'm not an anxious person but admittedly my nerves were on a 💯till I laid eyes on them again upon picking them up. Giving it to God and praying for the protection of all our babies🙏🏾. They're so excited to be back, Praise God!
Oh! And absent from the gram is not absent from life. Most checks have been genuine thank you, but a few inquired about errrythang from whether I had COVID to did I give up photography🤨.
A resounding “no” to both, just been focusing my attention where it’s most needed 🖤🖤🖤.
