A new report from the highlights a disturbing rise in anti-South Asian hate tied to the political fight over H-1B visas.

What began as a policy debate has escalated into a wave of online slurs and rhetoric targeting South Asians specifically — who now face the majority of anti-Asian hate speech circulating online. As Indian Americans grow more visible in tech, politics, and public life, they are increasingly being scapegoated in conversations about jobs, immigration, and belonging.

Across the country, desi families describe feeling anxious about their safety and alienated in communities they have long called home.

Impact unequivocally condemns this surge in xenophobia and hate. South Asian Americans and immigrant communities belong here — and deserve safety, dignity, and respect.
