Light Up the Holidays
We are collecting donations of small Christmas trees for children in the hospital over the holiday

Sad news for the Light Up the Holidays Family. We lost the heart of our organization yesterday. My mom, Angi Fouste, passed away suddenly at her home. We will never be able to replace her or her compassion to help others. In her honor, we are collecting monetary donations to help decorate more trees for this next Christmas season.

I appreciate all of the tree donations! Donors don’t always get feedback about your generosity but we have had a couple. In the post below this one about the Mercy drop-off, one parent expressed appreciation. I also received a text today (below) from my son with more. Thanks for all of your help!

We had some toys that didn’t fit on the trees or were heavy and I gave some to Mercy Hospital when I delivered the trees. The staff there said that children often think that Santa won’t visit them when they’re in the hospital because he won’t know where they are. So the staff wrap some donated gifts on Christmas Eve and sneak them into the children’s rooms so they can see that Santa did know where they are. They also give donated toys to kids on their first day of chemo or after a surgery, and to celebrate the last day of chemo. The Child Life staff there are so caring and amazing!
The trees bring comfort to the kids at a time of a lot of stress, and any gifts that didn’t fit on the trees will definitely still be used as part of their Christmas. They were appreciative of all of your donations. Thank you!

The Marthasville Fire Department donated 12 trees. Here are a few of them. Thank you!
Some of the trees going to Mercy for our first drop off tomorrow. It’s hard to see from still pictures how much creativity, thoughtfulness, and care went into making these trees. The children will be so happy! Thank you to all!
