🎖️Memorial Day 2026 Letter from our ILA South
Atlantic and Gulf Coast District President🇺🇸

Dear Friends:

As we soon celebrate 250 years of nationhood, we pause to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice allowing our nation to endure this long. The Memorial Day holiday provides us with the opportunity to celebrate those souls lost fighting to preserve our freedom and democratic life. Yes, we face challenges to ensure our democracy remains a shining light among nations, but we remedy those challenges by participating in our democracy, being active in civic affairs, and of course, voting. The upcoming 2026 mid-term elections will be an important test as to whether we continue our slide from a flourishing democracy that recognize the separation of powers we learned as children.

I am honored to be the President of the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District and thank my brothers and sisters of the ILA, tor all you do as we join together this Memorial Day honoring those who served, but praying for a more hopeful, peaceful and safe time ahead.

May God Bless America and the ILA and all of those in need.

On Thursday evening, Alan Robb, Port Houston Commissioner and President of the ILA South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District, along with District Representative Eloy Cortez, attended a special event with Houston Mayor John Whitmire at the Houston Maritime Center and Museum.
The evening marked the Mayor’s Fleet Week VIP Kickoff Reception—an incredible celebration of Houston’s rich maritime legacy and its ongoing impact on the world.
