Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
07/21/2025
Tonightโs patients: my own two littles.
Ages 5 and 7, full energy, and surprisingly willing to let mom work her myo magic.
We did some gentle hands-on work to release tension in their little necks, jaws, and faces. Kids hold so much more tension than we realizeโespecially when you think about the wild ways they sleep (weโve all seen the car seat slump or the neck-bent-backwards couch nap ๐
).
Manual therapy helps loosen up those tight muscles and fascia, making the myofunctional exercises we practice way more effective. It supports better sleep, posture, and functionโespecially for kids with jaw pain, open-mouth breathing, or clenching habits. Plusโit just feels good.
These girls never cease to amaze me. They showed up, stayed surprisingly still, and left with relaxed faces and a calm little energy (mom win!) ๐
Would you want to learn a few calming at-home techniques to help your child relax and reset? Drop a comment or question below, make sure to like my page (extra thanks if you tag a friend you think would like these tips too!), and Iโll send the free quick guide right to your inbox ๐ซถ๐ผ

Letโs talk about something simple that can make a huge difference in your health: ๐๐ค๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐.
โฃ
I know it sounds basicโbut whether you breathe through your nose or your mouth affects way more than most people realize.
โฃ
Mouth breathing can lead to things like poor sleep, low energy, brain fog, jaw pain, and even changes in facial developmentโ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ค๐ช๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐บ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ฌ๐ช๐ฅ๐ด.
โฃ
But nasal breathing? Thatโs where the magic happens.
๐ฌ Filters and warms the air
๐ด Supports deeper sleep
๐ค Helps your body stay calm + balanced
๐
Encourages proper tongue posture
โฃ
If you're noticing dry mouth in the morning, chapped lips, feeling unrested even though you just woke up, or even snoringโyour body might be trying to tell you something.
โฃ
The good news?
Ask yourself:
โDo I breathe through my nose all day? If not, ๐ค๐ข๐ฏ I breathe through my nose?
โDo I wake up with a dry mouth?
โDo my lips naturally stay closed at rest (while driving, watching tv, concentrating) or do I find them slightly parted and open throughout the day?
โDo I snore?
โฃ
Awareness is the first stepโbecause how you breathe truly matters.

Itโs not just about cavities and cleaningsโyour tongue, lips, and breathing habits can impact your sleep, posture, energy, focus, and even how your face develops.โฃ

This is your sign to start thinking beyond the teeth. ๐ง โจ
