Timeless Tuesday — In 1956, Dr. W. Glenn Killinger’s Golden Rams opened the season in Newark against Delaware, a team coming off an 8-1 year with wins over Lafayette, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rutgers, Temple, and Bucknell. West Chester won 10-7 on a late field goal, then went on to finish 7-1 with wins over King’s, Drexel, California, East Stroudsburg, Millersville, and Bloomsburg to claim the conference crown through the Saylor Points System.
The season also featured two future Killinger Football Hall of Fame members, Joe Chilbert and Lyndon Sorber, who earned all-conference recognition that year.
A great look back at another chapter in West Chester football history under Dr. W. Glenn Killinger.
