Installing 6 brace rods on a singular limb of a northern red oak tree in Columbus, OH. During a severe wind event, a shear plane crack emerged on one of its limbs.
As an alternative to pruning the large limb off or removing the entire tree, the tree manager opted to perform some end-weight reduction pruning, install a static, steel cable up in the canopy, and install 6 brace rods to offer maximum support to the limb.
