Flint Ridge Kennels

Flint Ridge Ranger ran in the NBHA National Invitational Open Shooting Dog Championship today. He finished the hour with one find, one unproductive and an OK race. The 8 day frigid conditions a week or so ago didn’t help his conditioning. His litter mate Flint Ridge Oakley runs tomorrow. Let’s hope she has many finds and a great race.

We are looking for a walking shooting dog derby to run the 2025-2026 season. This dog must be superior in all ways. Biddable, excellent nose, forward running with a true shooting dog range is a must. We will be running this dog in companion derby stakes that are held in conjunction with walking shooting dog championships. If anyone has such a dog available now or after summer camp, please let me know. I have no preference as to male or female. A dog showing the traits I am looking for is more important than pedigree.

We are thinking about a breeding here at Flint Ridge Kennels. Our good friend has a really nice shooting dog that has won the following: 2023 NBHA National Derby Championship, 2024 NBHA National Open Championship, 2025 National Open Championship, 2025 RU National AFTCA Walking Championship, 2025 ABHA Central Region Championship, 2025 AFTCA Region 5 Horseback Shooting Championship. Robert is an outstanding shooting dog and is also an exceptional dog to hunt behind.

Our female is Flint Ridge Oakley. She is a direct daughter of one of the most winning shooting dogs of all time, Chelsea's Thunder Bolt. Her dam, Babe of Flint Ridge, was out of Elhew royalty, ie. Elhew Swami, Elhew Hannabell, Elhew Sinbad and another HOF dog, Rock Acre Blackhawk. I believe that Oakley would have had some kind of Championship placement this year had it not been for her handler (me)!

Take a look at what the pedigree will be for these puppies. I think they will have great potential as field trial dogs or hunting dogs.
