How We Got Here and Where We Are Going
The concept for this organization was a vision of oncologist Shaker R. Dakhil in response to seeing so many patients who have life circumstances which affect their ability to pay the premiums necessary to keep their health insurance when battling cancer and the care needed throughout the journey. The goal is for no patient, who is currently receiving cancer care in Sedgwick County, to have to choose between life expenses and life saving treatment.
Today, the nonprofit organization is ran by a passionate and diverse group of volunteers and board of directors brought together by a shared passion for service. Our organization runs solely off of donations, in which over 95% of all funds spent go to the patients who have applied and asked for help. We are dedicated to ensuring the gifts that we receive from both corporate, community and individual donors are used in the most efficient and effective way.
We are proud to provide a sense of hope and comfort to patients who truly need it—and to do so in such an extraordinary community!
