Got some new material to try out on some folks? Wanna belt out a few bars? projectART is hosting our quarterly Open Mic Night & Art Crawl this Friday, June 5, and this mic is ready for YOU!

Our Open Mic Night is held in our contemporary art gallery, ARTSPACE. Perform, or just spectate, while immersed in art! Bring your poetry, spoken word, acoustic music, and (clean) comedy for this all-ages open mic. Bonus: this event coincides with quarterly Art Crawl, so catch a ride on the shuttle to ARTSPACE for the performances and art!

Performing IS NOT required to attend! If you do plan on sharing, give us a heads up at www.projectartwimberley.org/galleryevents or link in bio!

The importance of art education extends beyond elementary school. High school students who take more art classes than required are more engaged in school and have higher attendance and retention rates. Therefore, they are more likely to graduate from high school. Additionally, students who participate extensively in art programs are more likely to be in academic honors societies and less likely to drop out.

projectART provides creative opportunities for teens, in addition to children and adults. Our flagship program, projectMENTOR pairs middle- and high-school students with professional artists for a month-long apprenticeship that culminates in a professional gallery exhibit featuring the students’ and mentors’ works displayed side-by-side. SIDExSIDE: projectMENTOR is still on view at ARTSPACE, and we encourage you to come by with your teen and see the possibilities! More information about the exhibit and our organization can be found at www.projectartwimberley.org.
