How are you bringing awareness into your life?

This post was supposed to talk about how to create your perfect routine, but I find it hard to advise you to do that when I've fallen short on my routine, recently.
After three months of 0 COVID cases here in Vietnam, things began to go back to “normal”.
The feelings of FOMO during lockdown had me making more of an effort to attend as much as possible. I overextended myself and quickly fell out of my routine.
Although a lot of new and exciting things were happening, something was missing.
Here I am, in our second round of lockdown, realizing that what I was missing was once again, balance.
It’s quite easy to fall out of balance and overindulge in things that seem “good” for us, but it's an opportunity for us to question ourselves and understand what we are trying to hide from.
Now I’m using this time to get back on track with my routine and reflect on this lesson that keeps presenting itself.

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten”
This is true in all aspects of life and until you break the cycle these same lessons will keep showing up in your life.

This is a quote I have to repeat to myself often.
So let me say it again.
“Comparison is the THIEF of happiness.”
I never thought my life would turn out like this. In fact, I envisioned it very differently.
Even though I’m proud of myself, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I often compare myself to others. It makes me question if I’m making the right choices in my life.
I’ve noticed it’s in these times of mindlessly scrolling on social media that bring me down the most.
But when I’m in the moment of things and I'm just exploring and experiencing new cultures and perspectives, I truly feel alive.
What gets you out of your head and makes you feel alive?

Being a perfectionist has made me realize my tendency to never feel like I am enough.
If I don’t meet the high standards I set for myself or the expectations I feel like others have for me, I have a bad habit to quit before I even start.
Sometimes this looks like me just completely shutting down and disconnecting myself from whatever feelings I have. Or sometimes this plays out in my procrastination.
I’d rather shut those feelings out than bare the pain of failure and rejection.
Now that I have awareness of this, it’s the first step to understanding and changing these habits.
And when I catch myself falling back into that old habit, I gently remind myself that I am enough.
Are you aware of the thoughts and habits you have that tell you that you’re not enough?
