SVSG at Tautua Program Event – with Her Excellency Ms. Sam Mostyn
Taumeasina Island Resort, 2 June 2026
The Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) joined fellow civil society organisations at the Tautua Program side event, held today at Taumeasina Resort. The event was an opportunity to highlight the voices of civil society and the strong partnership between Samoa and Australia.
Her Excellency Ms Sam Mostyn, Governor‑General of Australia, delivered remarks that reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to inclusive development “Australia is proud to stand alongside Samoa in strengthening communities and supporting local leadership.” Speaking on behalf of NGOs, SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang expressed gratitude for Australia’s support. “Fa’afetai tele lava to the Government of Australia for investing in stronger communities.” She stressed that Tautua’s support empowers organisations to care for women and girls, uplift youth, include persons with disabilities, and protect vulnerable families. Siliniu added that it is “beyond services — it is about building leaders, strengthening systems, and enabling communities to shape their own future.”
Following the speeches, civil society organisations showcased their work through booths. SVSG’s booth featured Nofotane products, alongside brochures highlighting its other key services such as the Campus of Hope, case management services, and programs for persons with disabilities.
Her Excellency and her delegation visited the SVSG booth, purchasing Nofotane products as gifts. Such a gesture that underscored Australia’s recognition of women’s economic empowerment and the impact of SVSG’s work. SVSG’s participation reflected its ongoing mission to protect, empower, and uplift vulnerable families while celebrating the strength of partnerships that make community‑led development possible.
