With food insecurity being declared an emergency in Mississauga and 1 in 13 Mississauga residents using Food Banks Mississauga, The Goan Charitable Organization made a donation of $500 to this worthy cause.

A big THANK you to our incredible volunteers who sorted donated food, personal care products, household items, juice, and water cases at Food Banks Mississauga this morning. Collectively, our volunteers sorted 3,750 pounds of food that will be distributed to families in need.
This initiative, coordinated by Audrey Almeida and promoted by Goan Overseas Association of Toronto - G.O.A. Toronto, was a timely one as yesterday the Mississauga City Council passed a motion declaring food insecurity an emergency in Mississauga. This declaration is a monumental step in recognizing that food insecurity has gone beyond crisis levels and is not a temporary issue.
