“I have been doing this job for 11 years, being claustrophobic I cannot work in tight small cubicles. I love this job, as I don’t have any peer pressure and can work at my own pace. Moreover, I am proud to keep the city clean. It’s difficult sometimes, especially in winter and I am getting old. But I love summer and autumn is my favourite– you can see how the nature changes its chores over the year. I clean parks where people drink and throw litter afterwards. They should bin their litters, but I don’t mind picking the litters as I think that people had good time and they forgot to throw. Things become worse when there are broken glasses, I’m worried that the glass pieces can hurt the children who are playing in the park. Would they do the same if their loved ones were playing in the park? I think they mustn’t do it at all, it is horrific! I have to pick every single pieces with my hand, and sometimes I get cuts. I’m not obliged to do this, but I like to do this job because I feel it’s my responsibility and I cannot see children getting hurt while they are playing in the park for someone else’s fault.
When I came to England, my English was not that good, and I felt the need to improve my speaking and writing skills. So, I joined the evening college after work and got Level 2 in English. I was 60 years old. Don’t you find my English good enough? It’s good indeed! If I had to give one advice, then it will be- ‘No job is small or big; if you enjoy it then take pride in it.’

“I like feeding ducks it helps me relax, there are lots of ducks around here but I don’t think there is enough food for all of them. Even if it’s there I don’t think it’s organic – I have seen some people feeding bread but I am not sure if that good/bad. I am on my lunch break now, so take a walk and feed these ducks. “If I had to pass 1 message to everyone?” – Do what makes you happy, if you find yourself doing something that doesn’t make you happy stop it!”
