Sharing the rest of the art from my show today. The show is only up for two more days, so if you still plan to go see it, make sure you get out there today or tomorrow 🙂. Work is for sale though the gallery The 567 Center for Renewal
First up, the Veteran Soles. These were really fun to do! The shoelaces did get quite tedious, but I think that’s the part that really makes the drawings 🙂. All of the boots belong to active duty or retired service members and were worn through their careers, including deployments. All the drawings are done in soft pastel and charcoal. I am thinking about offering boot commissions if anyone is interested in getting theirs done!

Thirdly, I would like to share my ballet and coffee pieces from my show, kind of a little passion themed sub series.

I’ve always been fascinated by ballet, the dance itself and the pretty items they wear. If I had any rhythm or balance at all, I’d definitely attempt to be a ballerina! The first drawing is of a vintage ballet dress I found in a thrift store. I drew it using graphite and white pastel pencil on wood. The giant pointe shoes were also found in a thrift store. I had fun drawing these extra large! I think one would look good on its own, so they are for sale either separately or together with a discount. The tiny ballet shoes in “Little Dreamer” were worn by a best friend’s daughter in her ballet class and I just thought they were so precious.

Lastly, we have the used coffee filters and grounds. The giant one is called “Rituals.” I let it sit out and dry for a couple hours before photographing it and the brown rings appeared on the coffee filter. It reminds me of a topographical map. This is my favorite piece in the whole show 🙂

The smaller, life-sized coffee filter drawing is “Foggy Morning” was photographed wet straight out of the coffee pot. This drawing has sold! The others are still for sale through The 567 Center for Renewal. The show will remain up through April 25th if you want to go see everything in person.
