🏊🚴 Aquabikers – We Need Your Input!

When we introduced the Aquabike category, our goal was simple: to create a way for athletes to continue enjoying multisport when injury, health, or life simply made the run portion no longer the right fit.

Since then, we've watched the category grow. This year, Aquabike made up approximately 4% of Saturday's field and 18% of Sunday's field at the Oliver Triathlon. That's exciting, and it tells us it's time to take another look at the athlete experience.

We've been listening to your feedback.

As a result, beginning in 2027 we'll be introducing 10-year age group awards for Aquabike, replacing the current Top 3 Overall awards. As participation has grown, we feel this is a better way to recognize more athletes and create more meaningful competition.

Another piece of feedback we've heard is that finishing in transition can feel a little anti-climactic.

We agree.

The challenge is that creating an entirely separate finish line—with timing, an announcer, finish chute, volunteers and all the logistics that go with it—isn't operationally or financially realistic for an event our size.

But that doesn't mean we can't do better.

We're especially interested in ideas that create a more memorable finish experience without requiring a completely separate finish line. Some of our best ideas over the years have come directly from athletes, and we'd love to see what this community comes up with.
