PRAYER ALERT: Artemis II’s Wiseman: “I Saw the Cross and Broke Down in Tears”

Even the non-religious spaceship commander Reid Wiseman has begun to find his spiritual bearings. Upon his return to earth on Artemis II, he said he didn’t know how to reorient himself. “I asked for the chaplain on the Navy ship to just come visit us for a minute. And when that man walked in, I'd never met him before in my life. But I saw the cross on his collar and I broke down in tears."

That happened to me when I first experienced God in a small congregation on Easter Sunday 1987. A friend who had become curious about that church brought me there. I’d tried several churches before, and left disappointed. So I thought I’d go with him to ease his disappointment. Although I wasn’t looking for God, He was looking for me. He reached my heart through the heartfelt worship of that congregation, and I wept for joy.

It killed me to know Jesus loved me despite the mess I had made of my life. Now I’ve become a completely different man. Pray God does something like that to non-religious people like Reid Wiseman. PRAYER ALERT: How God Grants National Favor to His People
God gave Belize churches favor when the government started the Ministry of Religious Affairs In 2021. Then God gave favor to church leaders to greatly influence the constitutional process in 2022-25. And in 2023 He gave favor to church leaders to sign a Statement of Agreement with the government. It set out the church as advisory partner due to its history of moral influence and God’s supremacy in Belize. In fact the Constitution begins by basing Belize on principles that acknowledge “the supremacy of God.”
Yet Muslims—less than 2% of Belizeans—in effect claim the same God as the 70+% of Belizeans who identify as Christian. Some Muslims want to build on a relationship that took Christians centuries to build. They have freedom to build another relationship with the government, but not on our relationship. Muslims should be thankful they have that freedom which Muslim nations harshly deny to Christians.

Do we call that Christian nationalism? No, we call it Christian participation in democracy. If Christians win, no one should disqualify us by labeling us Christian nationalists. Because we have freedom of religion. And of course Christian want to win on national issues and win races for national office, like everyone else. If anyone discredits that as Christian nationalism, they should be laughed off the stage.
