Managing Attorney Renee Murphy was honored to be nominated among an inspiring set of advocates for equitable, inclusive, public education for Honesty for Ohio Education's Grassroots Leadership Award. This recognition reflected the impact of Renee's work and her commitment to supporting public education in Ohio. We celebrated this incredible statewide coalition and community at the Honesty Goes to Kindergarten event on June 18.

Congratulations, Renee, and thank you for all that you do for Ohio’s students and schools!

ABLE is collaborating with a statewide legal aid Medicaid Estate Recovery Workgroup to advocate for fairer Medicaid Estate Recovery practices in Ohio.

In collaboration with a team of legal aid attorneys from throughout the state, we produced a new resource to educate Ohioans about their rights if they are facing Medicaid Estate Recovery after the loss of a loved one. This “Know Your Rights” one‑pager has been shared with the Ohio Department of Medicaid, the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to help those affected by MER access the information and resources they need. This new resource helps Ohioans facing estate recovery assess if they are eligible for an exception, learn the process for filing for an exception, and find out how to get help.
