Honored to speak at the ribbon cutting for The Carver House, a powerful example of what happens when education, opportunity, and community align.

Students from 10 Baltimore City high schools, alongside the Requity Foundation, transformed a vacant West Baltimore house into a high-performing home and putting property back to productive use while training our future workforce.

One student said it best: “Requity has been my safe space.” That’s the impact.

As a proud Carver Bear, this one hit home. Grateful to the students, educators, and partners making it happen.

A thriving Baltimore requires investing in young people, strengthening communities and building real pathways to opportunity.

In recognition of Women’s History Month, we honor Victorine Quille Adams, a trailblazing Baltimore educator, community leader, and the first African American woman elected to the Baltimore City Council.

Adams dedicated her life to expanding political participation and economic opportunity. She was a Baltimore Public School teacher, business manager of the Charm Center, founder of the Colored Women’s Democratic Campaign Committee, and co founder of Woman Power, Incorporated.

Her leadership helped strengthen civic engagement and opened doors for future generations of leaders in Baltimore.
