PART 1

Wait, there are actually wild Kiwis living here?! πŸ₯πŸ‘€πŸŒΏ

I knew the Driving Creek Railway in the Coromandel was famous for its mountain train ride, but I had no idea about its secret mission.

As the train winds its way up the mountain, you are completely surrounded by lush, native New Zealand floraβ€”massive ferns, regenerating Kauri trees, and incredible local plant life. But the best part? The tour guides let us know that this entire area is a heavily protected wildlife sanctuary, and wild Kiwi birds actually live right here in these hills! πŸŒ²πŸ¦‰

Knowing that your train ticket directly funds the predator-free traps and replanting efforts to save these endangered birds makes the whole experience so much more special. It is a absolute paradise for nature lovers.
