PART 1
Wait, there are actually wild Kiwis living here?! π₯ππΏ
I knew the Driving Creek Railway in the Coromandel was famous for its mountain train ride, but I had no idea about its secret mission.
As the train winds its way up the mountain, you are completely surrounded by lush, native New Zealand floraβmassive ferns, regenerating Kauri trees, and incredible local plant life. But the best part? The tour guides let us know that this entire area is a heavily protected wildlife sanctuary, and wild Kiwi birds actually live right here in these hills! π²π¦
Knowing that your train ticket directly funds the predator-free traps and replanting efforts to save these endangered birds makes the whole experience so much more special. It is a absolute paradise for nature lovers.
