Using the sublime as her subject matter, Laurel Holmes' practice references a nostalgia strongly influenced by memories of an unrestricted, free childhood, where the physical landscape was more accessible.

She examines fragility and strength in a natural world within which our own lives are often harried, bombarded by development, fear, worry and too little privacy.

Landia Davies shares insight into her whimsical work, saying:

"Goggles is a brave little adventurer who dreams of flying to wild new places. This piece talks about being adventurous and never giving up on your dreams. It is a fun artwork about having an explorer's spirit no matter who you are and what you do."

Janna Prinsloo reflects on her work 'Journeying With A Friend', saying:

"To me this painting depicts a feeling than anything else.
A feeling of companionship. A sense of ageing, and with that life experience and wisdom.

A sense of having experienced so much, that a very deep depth of soul has formed. Yet this is not only felt and experienced, but shared. There is a strong sense of sharing in this image.

And maybe it’s the very fact that life is shared that gives it more value, meaning, or joy?"

"This series of artworks celebrate the strength and intricate beauty of fynbos and succulents, delicately sculpted to honour their resilience.

Emerging from some of the harshest conditions, windswept landscapes, poor soils, and fire-prone terrain - these plants not only endure but flourish through remarkable perseverance.

In much the same way, the human spirit is shaped and strengthened by adversity, finding ways to grow through challenges and uncertainty. Each piece is a tribute to survival, a meditation on endurance - a reminder that resilience can give rise to extraordinary transformations."
