🧠 BUSH IQ CHALLENGE! 🦛

I thought this one would be easy...

I was wrong. 😅

The challenge: identify the animal using ONLY yes or no questions before the clock runs out.

It sounds simple until you realise every question counts!

🌿 Every animal leaves clues. The secret is knowing which questions to ask.

They Use What???

I bet you didn't know this little beetle is an astronomer!

It sounds unbelievable, but scientists have discovered that some dung beetles can use the stars, and even the Milky Way, to help them navigate in a straight line.

Why?

Because once a dung beetle has made its dung ball, it needs to get away from competitors as quickly as possible. By using the night sky as a guide, it can roll its precious prize in a straight line and avoid having it stolen.

For such a tiny insect, it's an incredible feat of navigation and proof that some of nature's most amazing stories come from the smallest creatures.

This is one of the most incredible wildlife moments I have ever seen.

A Bateleur Eagle begins to take off, completely unaware that a leopard is watching.

In a split second, the leopard explodes into action and takes advantage of a tiny window of opportunity.

Moments like these remind us why leopards are such successful predators. They are incredibly agile, incredibly powerful and always alert to an opportunity.

Nature can be brutal, but it is also absolutely fascinating.

They Eat WHAT?

Have you ever wondered how giraffes can eat thorny acacia trees without turning their mouths into pincushions?

Acacia trees are covered in sharp thorns that would quickly injure most animals. Yet giraffes feed on them every single day.

The secret lies in their incredible adaptations. Giraffes have tough lips, thick saliva and specially adapted tongues that help protect them while feeding among the thorns. This allows them to access a food source that many other herbivores simply can't reach.

It's just one of the many amazing ways animals have adapted to survive in the African bush.

ELEPHANTS DO WHAT? Did you know elephants help plant some of Africa's most iconic trees?

Trees like Marula, Sausage Tree, Jackalberry and Baobab rely on elephants to help spread their seeds across the African savanna.

As the seeds pass through the elephant's digestive system, they are carried kilometres away and deposited in nutrient-rich dung, giving them a great chance to grow.

That's why elephants are often called the gardeners of Africa.

This Annoying Bird Has a Superpower!

Love them or hate them, Hadedas are far more impressive than most people realise.

Their constant probing isn't random at all. Using their sensitive bills, Hadedas can detect worms, grubs and other prey hidden beneath the soil, making them incredibly efficient feeders.

They're also one of South Africa's great urban wildlife success stories. As our parks, gardens and green spaces expanded, these adaptable birds thrived and became one of the country's most recognisable species.

Next time you hear that unmistakable "HAAA-DE-DAAA!", remember there's more to this bird than just its noisy alarm clock impression. 😄
