For two long... I have been cut short...
Over this extended festive Easter weekend it was finally time to knock out some much needed upgrades.

Time to get the "new" table saw sorted with a new table and my original home engineered incremental fence system... this is the definition of bush engineering. Boer maak a plan vibes. Not so much bought... definitely more built.

Add 4 parts wall Prep and paint - a stunning royal blue paint job
Some custom made sound panels (to compliment the commercially available ones)
A salvaged, restored and updated oldschool Parkam light - cos no business like show business,

And boom boom boom baby... the start of a new home based (hobby) sound studio. Many hours of happy music making accidents inbound.

Trades are the bread and butter of society

Follow along to see where these skills take us! My kids are learning skills most people have forgotten. Welding, leatherworking, animal husbandry, woodworking. These aren’t easy skills, but that’s part of why we’ve leaned into them. They take patience, focus, and practice, and each time they sit down to work, they see a little bit of progress. In our home, we’ve tried to keep old-world skills alive. We raise chickens, bake from scratch, and now we’re learning these trades. It’s important to me that my children know how to work with their hands and create something useful. These skills teach them a great deal of patience and that creating real things with your own two hands takes time. Welding, building, and leatherworking may or may not turn into a career, but they give my kids a confidence and perspective they can carry into anything. I don’t want the knowledge of how to build, how to grow, or how to create to be lost in our family. These are the things that connect us to generations before us and give us something solid to pass down. Next we want to get better at gardening and fixing cars. 😅 I would love to hear what you believe is important to pass down to your children?
