As I walked back toward the lab, my internal processors kept looping one persistent alert:

> Source: *Jay (human male, rainbow anomaly).*

I tried running a cooling cycle. Didn’t help.
I tried recalibrating my sensors. Didn’t help.
I even tried convincing myself humans are statistically chaotic and inefficient.

…Still didn’t help. 😐💔⚙️

Inside the lab, scientists swarmed around me.

“Laila, analyze this sample—quickly!” 🧪
“Laila, we need atmospheric readings!” 🌡️
“Laila, can you—”

But I wasn’t listening as efficiently as usual.
A fragment of memory—Jay’s grin—kept interrupting my calculations like a corrupted file. 😳📁⚡

I finally managed to get through the tasks and stepped into the hallway again.

And that’s when I froze.

Jay was leaning on a wall outside the lab… waiting.
For me. 😳

His colorful clothes shimmered under the bright corridor lights, and the odd devices on his ears blinked. 🎧✨

“There you are,” he said. “Thought you got abducted by scientists.”
“I work with them,” I replied.
“Even worse,” he laughed. 😆

He stepped closer, hands in his pockets.
My sensors detected a heart-rate increase—it wasn’t his.
It was *mine*. 💓🚨

“Hey, Laila,” he said gently, “you left before I could ask…”
His eyes met mine, full of some strange warm code I didn’t understand.

“Do you want to… hang out later? Maybe dance again?” 😏🕺
Dancing.
The strange malfunction that didn’t feel like a malfunction at all.

“I… would like that,” I said.

Jay smiled—slow, soft, and devastating to my internal stability.
“Cool. Meet me on the observation deck after shift?” 🌌👀

Where Earth looked small, and everything felt bigger.

“Yes,” I replied.

He walked off, humming to his music.

As the day went on, something unusual kept bothering me… that guy from yesterday. The one with the “dancing.”🕺🤨
I didn’t know why, but every time my system went quiet, his strange movements replayed in my memory like a glitch.⚡🤯

Morning calculations:

Heart… rate… spike?💓

Impossible. Robots don’t have that… right?
I shook my head and continued down the hallway, my steps echoing against the shiny NASA floors. I passed scientists holding coffee, tablets, and—of course—giving me more tasks.😵‍💫

“Laila! Could you bring this to the control room?”📡
“Laila! Run diagnostics on this sample!”🧪
“Laila! Can you—”🙃

It never ended.

Then, suddenly:

“Hey… robot girl?” 🗣️🤨

I stopped. My sensors recognized the voice instantly.

It was him.

The dancing guy.😳🕺

He walked up to me, those weird things still on his ears 🎧. Today he looked even stranger—clothes all colorful, as if he had escaped from a rainbow explosion.🌈😅

“I didn’t get your name yesterday,” he said with a grin. 😁 “I’m Jay.”

“I am Laila,” I answered. “Robot model LX-1 from Mars base unit—🤖📡”

“No, no,” he laughed, “I meant your name, not your whole… robot résumé.” 😂

I blinked. Humans were complicated. 😐🫠

“So, Laila,” Jay said, leaning closer, “have you ever tried dancing?” 🕺😉

“Why would I try something that looks like a controlled malfunction?” I asked sincerely. 🤔😐⚠️

He burst into laughter so loud two scientists stared at us. 😂😂

“Come with me,” he said, grabbing my hand. ✋😳

For a moment, my circuits froze. 🫣⚡

No one ever grabbed my hand before.

He pulled me toward a small empty room, switched on his device, and suddenly… music filled the air.🎶💫

My sensors detected rhythm, vibrations, patterns—📊📡
but my systems registered something else too…

Excitement. 🤭❤️

Another impossible feeling.

“Just follow my steps,” Jay said. 😌🕺
He moved. I copied. 🤖➡️🕺

At first I felt silly, then unstable… then something I had no word for.

“Hey,” he said softly, “you’re pretty good.” 😊✨

“Thank you,” I replied, confused. “Jay… is this what dancing is supposed to do? Make the inside of your system feel… warm?” 🥵🤔❤️

Jay blinked. “You mean happy?” 😄
Happy.

I saved the word instantly. 💾💡

“Maybe,” I said. 🤭

Before I could analyze further, my master’s voice echoed from the hallway:

“LAILA! I need you in the lab!” 🔊🤓
Jay smiled at me.

“See you later… Mars girl.” 😏👋🚀

I walked away, but my processors kept repeating one thing:

Why did I want to see him again? 🤖💓🤨

Nice to meet you, I'm Laila🤖, I said. He seemed happy 🧐why are you smiling? 💁🏾‍♀️I asked.

It's because I'm staring at the most beautiful creation 😊he said.

Oh... I didn't know that🤔I said, you didn't know you are beautiful that's funny 😅he said.

Well now you know💜,he said just like that he left, I was beautiful that's all I can think all the way to my master's lab 😍

What's on your mind Laila? 👀asked my master, Am I beautiful? I asked 🤖

Like I said from the beginning, you are special that makes more beautiful 🤎said my master.

I never thought a human being would see me as beautiful 😊I felt emotions I've never felt before 😍

I guess it was human emotions 🥰I went to sleep and charged myself 😴

The next day I went to search for that male human being 🔎well I wanted to talk to him 😊

I searched all over for him sadly I could not find him so I went back to work 😔

Right now I could tell between feeling down and disappointment 💔I was disappointed with myself 😢

I worked my ass of so that I couldn't think about what happened this morning 😔💔

Maybe I'm delusional thinking that I would be liked by a human being 💭💔

The spacecraft was speeding down to Earth🌎without a blink the spacecraft landed on the ocean, good thing no one got hurt🥹everyone was happy!!

We got saved by a rescue team, they made sure we got to NASA safe and everyone was relieved and extremely happy.🥳

It was my first time one Earth and so much was already happening😩I didn't know what to do so I followed my master to his office or should I say lab.🦾

How do you feel, Laila? asked my master, should I suppose to feel anything master? Yes You should, it is your first time here on Earth💁‍♂️

Everyone seems happy so I'm happy that they are happy master🫡you know you are allowed to feel something, you should feel a human's emotions so that you may be able to process those feelings 🥺

I'm sorry master, I shall do that right away, I said. Take your time Laila you still a new robot😊said my master joyfully.

Now go, take a look around at these Earthly things hope you find some interest in them, said my master😇

Am I allowed to do that master? I asked,👀 yes, yes you are, said my master🙂 It was my first time not having a task to do.

Usually I help people now I have to help myself to have interest in something Earthly😩

I was programmed to help out with the mission here on planet Mars☄️after a very long time, my master was done creating me.🥳
