Police Investigate Child Defilement Case in Chakwaba Village, Eastern Province
Eastern Province Police are investigating a case following reports of child defilement involving a 10-year-old girl from Chakwaba Village, Chief Nzamane, Chipata District.
According to a statement from Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, the incident occurred at unspecified time on January 1, 2026.
The victim’s aunt reported the case to Chipata Central Police Station via Msekera Police Post on January 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
The child had attended overnight Cross prayers at the Catholic Church within the village. Around 8:00 PM, feeling tired, she left the church to play outside.
There, she encountered five boys from the same village—identified as Matthews, George, Manda, Moffat, and Junior—who called her aside.
Although it was dark, the victim, knowing the boys, did not feel threatened.
Tragically, she was gang-defiled by the group.
The victim did not disclose the abuse immediately but later exhibited signs of physical pain and difficulty walking.
. The case was subsequently reported to the police, and a medical examination was conducted.
No arrests have been made at this time.
