Day 6/16: Consent is Key. Consent is Non-Negotiable.
Today we focus on Non-Consensual Intimate Image Sharing (NCII), often wrongly called "revenge p**n." This is the sharing of intimate or explicit images/videos without the subject's consent, often to humiliate or harm. It is a serious issue and a crime in many places. In Zambia, it's an offence under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.
Consent to take an intimate image or video NEVER implies consent to share it. Sharing someone's private content without their explicit permission is abusive and often illegal.
If you are a victim, you are not to blame. Support is available:
1. Document the content (but do NOT store it).
2. Report it to the platform immediately.
3. Report to the police

Day 5/16: Recognizing Cyberstalking & Harassment
Cyberstalking is obsessive and repeated monitoring or harassment using electronic communication. It can make victims feel constantly watched and unsafe, even in their own homes.
Signs You or a Friend Might Be Cyberstalked:
Constant Contact: Unwarranted messages, comments, or emails across multiple platforms, often with an abusive tone.
Unwanted Presence: The stalker frequently shows up in your online spaces or groups, even after being blocked.
Doxing/Threats: Sharing your private or identifying information online, or making threats to harm you or your reputation.
If you are experiencing this, document everything (screenshots, dates, times). Talk to a trusted adult, school counselor, or law enforcement.
and know the signs.

Day 4/16: It's Not a Prank, It's a Crime
There's a dangerous misconception that online harassment is "just the internet" or "something to ignore." This is FALSE. When harassment, threats, or abuse cross the line into digital violence, it is a crime and must be treated as such.
MYTH: "It's just trolls, ignore them."
FACT: Digital violence (cyberstalking, doxing, NCII, serious harassment) has legal consequences and causes real-world harm. Dismissing it normalizes abuse.
Familiarize yourself with your local laws on cybercrime. When you witness or experience severe digital violence, report it to the platform and consider reporting it to law enforcement. Demand justice!

Day 3/16: The Impact on Youth
Digital violence doesn't stay online. It severely impacts young women's mental health, academic performance, and future opportunities. The constant harassment, threats, and abuse online lead to:
-Anxiety and Depression
-Social Isolation
-Disrupted Education
-Silenced Voices
When a young woman is forced offline, her potential is stifled. This is unacceptable. We must protect our women's well-being and futures!

Day 2/16: UNiTE to End Digital Violence!
We often see it, but don't always name it. Digital Violence is any act committed, assisted, or aggravated by the use of technology that causes psychological, social, or physical harm. Itโs more than just "online drama" it's a serious violation of a young woman's safety and privacy. It causes real-world harm.
Common forms it takes:
1. Cyberstalking: Repeated, obsessive monitoring and communication.
2. Non-Consensual Intimate Image Sharing: Sharing private images without permission.
3. Doxing: Sharing private personal or identifying information to harass.
Knowledge is power. Let's make our online spaces safe for all women and girls.

Empowering Dialogue in Navutika: Launching 16 Days of Activism
โToday, YDF successfully launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign at Chipata's Navutika Market. We translated our official statement into actionable, community-focused conversations, prioritizing the core theme of digital and gender-based violence. โWe successfully engaged key women leaders.
We acknowledge the complexity presented by the ongoing market construction, which limited our initial reach. Crucially, the women engaged strongly advocated for a structured follow-up meeting, formally requesting that YDF liaise with the Market Chairman to facilitate a dedicated session this Friday. We are prioritizing this request. More details to follow.

The Youth Development Foundation (YDF) proudly joins the global community in commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, observed annually from 25 November to 10 December.
This critical campaign compels us to address the escalating threat of technology-facilitated abuse. Digital violence including online harassment, cyberstalking, and identity exploitation is a real and pervasive form of harm. At YDF, we believe every young woman and girl has the fundamental right to participate and flourish, both online and offline, without fear of abuse.
During these 16 Days and throughout the year, YDF will focus on:
* Elevating Awareness of digital abuse and its long-term impacts on youth.
* Empowering Digital Citizenship by equipping adolescents with safety skills.
* Driving Accountability, calling on tech platforms and policymakers to act decisively.
* Providing Support Systems for youth survivors of digital violence.
YDF is committed to transforming awareness into tangible impact. We call on individuals, educational institutions, and partners everywhere to stand with us and join our commitment to making violence, in every space, completely unacceptable.

The Youth Development Foundation was among the organizations honoured to attend a critical training session facilitated by The Carter Center.
โThe session dived into key social issues: Money in Politics and the Climate Change Gender Action Plan, alongside building Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) readiness to effectively access and manage funding sources.
โEmpowering youth organizations like ours with this knowledge is essential for a more equitable and participatory future.
