A Call for Accountability and Representation in Kawama Ward
As a concerned citizen of Kawama Ward, I find it deeply troubling that our community has been without a duly elected Councilor for such a long time. Around 2023, reports emerged that our Councilor was involved in a forgery scandal which led to his arrest and subsequent removal from office. Naturally, one would have expected that a by-election be held to restore representation and ensure our voices continue to be heard.
However, to this day, no by election has taken place. This has left the people of Kawama Ward without proper representation, a voice in the council chambers to speak on our behalf, advocate for our needs, and push for meaningful development. Our challenges, which should have been addressed through our local leadership structures, have instead become stories of the past history with no one to champion their resolution.
This situation raises serious questions about accountability, governance, and the value placed on the democratic rights of the people of Kawama. Every ward deserves representation. Every citizen deserves a voice. It is time we, the people of Kawama, are given the opportunity to choose a leader who will serve with integrity, transparency, and commitment to the welfare of our community.
I speak not out of criticism, but out of genuine concern and hope hope that Kawama can once again be represented with dignity and purpose. Our people deserve better, and it is time action is taken to restore leadership in our ward.
