Jealous co-wife who threw two children into stream to appear in court

A HEARTBREAKING case that shocked many residents of Lusaka is now heading to court.

Police have formally charged and arrested 26-year-old Mary Kachilika with two counts of murder after she allegedly threw her co-wife’s two innocent children into the Ngwerere Stream earlier this year.

According to Police spokesman Godfrey Chilabi, the tragic incident happened in February 2026 and has left a family and community in deep pain.

Speaking exclusively to TV Yatu, Chilabi confirmed that only one body has been recovered from the stream despite extensive search efforts.

The second child, a young girl, has still not been found, leaving investigators and family members clinging to painful uncertainty as the search yielded no results.

Police say investigations have now reached an advanced stage and the suspect is expected to appear before court soon to answer to the murder charges.

The devastating case sparked sorrow and outrage among community members, with many expressing heartbreak over the loss of the young innocent lives.

Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued for the innocent children whose lives were tragically cut short.

259 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH MURDER OF BUSINESSWOMAN IN NORTH-WESTERN PROVINCE

Police in North-Western province have arrested 259 individuals in connection with the recent murder of a businesswoman in Kisasa area.

The suspects, comprising 163 males and 96 females, are facing charges of murder, assault on police, malicious damage to property, and riotous behavior.
