‘TO***CO CONTROL BILL ADOPTED AFTER 17-YEAR WAIT’
Parliament has adopted the To***co Control Bill, marking a major milestone in Zambia’s public health efforts after a process that began in 2008 when the country ratified the WHO Framework Convention on To***co Control.
The Centre for Primary Care Research CPCR says the development follows 17 years of sustained advocacy and commitment from various stakeholders.

‘ZLA SUBMITS KEY RECOMMENDATIONS ON LAND REFORM BILLS’
The Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat Zambia (CFHHZ) in collaboration with the Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA), has submitted key recommendations to the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Lands and Natural Resources regarding the Agricultural Lands (Amendment) Bill, N.A.B. No. 16 of 2026, and the Land Survey (Amendment) Bill, N.A.B. No. 12 of 2026.
The submission forms part of broader civil society efforts under the National Land Coalition aimed at strengthening land governance and promoting equitable access to land in Zambia.

ZAMNAT SLAMS CALLS TO WITHDRAW TO***CO CONTROL BILL AS MISLEADING
THE Zambia Media Network Against To***co (ZAMNAT) has strongly condemned calls by the Acton Institute for Policy Analysis Centre to withdraw the To***co Control Bill 2025, describing the position as misleading, insensitive, and irresponsible in light of overwhelming evidence on the harmful effects of to***co.
ZAMNAT chairperson Paxina Phiri said consultations on the Bill have already been concluded, including a comprehensive Regulatory Impact Assessment which found that enacting the law will save lives and strengthen Zambia’s economy.
