A home-baker reached out and her major concern was this: “We spend thousands on ads, but people still don’t order.”

When I asked who she was targeting, she said, “Everyone who likes cakes.” That was the problem. Ads were going to people who didn’t care—wrong age, wrong location, wrong interest.

I shifted the focus. Instead of “everyone,” I built ads for people who have birthdays in that month, friends of people who have birthdays, people who have anniversaries, and office workers who like specific bakeries. I also adjusted the location according to her place. The baker didn’t change her cakes. I just changed how she spoke and to whom.

Result? Orders started coming in regularly.

That’s the secret: not bigger budgets, but better audience understanding.
