Oman Invites Bids for 2GW Pumped Hydro Plant

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) launched the tender process for the 2GW Jabal Abyad Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) Project, inviting bids for what is expected to become the Middle East's largest pumped hydro energy storage facility.

Planned near Wadi Dayqah Dam, the project will deliver 2,000MW of long-duration energy storage by pumping water to an upper reservoir during periods of surplus electricity generation and releasing it through turbines during peak demand.

Aldar unveiled Yas Point, a USD 1.63 billion (AED 6 billion) mixed-use waterfront destination on the northern shoreline of Yas Island, marking a significant milestone in the continued expansion of Abu Dhabi's premier tourism and lifestyle hub. The launch introduces the first phase of a 600,000 sqm master-planned community, with additional development phases planned over time.
