A speech-to-speech AI that can instantly translate conversations between two languages has been developed by Facebook's parent company, Meta.
In a recent video, Meta demonstrated how the program translates from Hokkien into other languages using artificial intelligence (AI).
⠀
The unusual thing about the Meta project is that the development team could not give the AI system a significant amount of material in this language, because Hokkien is mostly spoken, not written.
The company claims that its AI developers want to create speech-to-speech conversion systems that will work with most languages spoken around the world.
⠀
According to Zuckerberg, during our lifetime, artificial intelligence will allow us to communicate with anyone in any language.
⠀
Facebook's parent company, Meta, has created a digital tool that can instantly translate conversations between two languages. In a recent video, Meta demonstrated the ability of speech-to-speech AI to translate between English and Hokkien.
⠀
The creators of translation systems often train AI models on many written materials in target languages. To help the system create the most accurate answers, developers provide it with various language samples and combinations.
⠀
Systems that use AI to provide translation have generally advanced significantly in recent years. Getting translation help online or using a smartphone is now easier than ever, and it will improve global communication.
⠀
According to Meta, a new translation system between Hokkien and English has been developed using various methods. The researchers used samples of written text from Mandarin, another Chinese language associated with Hokkien, to train its artificial intelligence model of speech-to-speech conversion.
⠀
In addition, the creators of Meta used a coding tool designed to match the spoken Hokkien language with comparable text in English.

The daily life of a programmer consists of auditing and debugging code, writing new software, and monitoring the performance of finished programs. Moreover, the programmer must constantly communicate with colleagues, clients, and bosses. On average, a developer's working day lasts 8 hours.
⠀
Do you attend daily meetings?
Every day you hold meetings to discuss the current project and further steps. You're brainstorming with your team, being asked to report on your progress, or introducing new features.
⠀
So, even if you are a more extroverted person or you need a daily dose of communication with people, you will find this in the work of a programmer — contrary to the stereotype.
⠀
You spend a lot of time-solving problems as a programmer.
⠀
Being a software developer means solving problems and applying a solution with code.
⠀
This is what most of your daily work life revolves around:
⠀
You get the result you need to achieve. Then you need to devise a course of action to achieve this result.
⠀
You study every day
⠀
The nature of the work is such that you are constantly faced with new problems. Some of them require a skill you don't have yet, so you go and learn it.
⠀
But you are already used to it on the way to becoming a software developer:
⠀
Mastering programming from scratch
Development of new language skills
Honing your problem-solving abilities
⠀
Do you communicate with other developers?
⠀
Every day you will correspond with your fellow programmers.
⠀
You will make sure that everyone is working in the right direction
You coordinate current and future tasks
You show your progress and compare records
⠀
Working as a programmer doesn't necessarily mean being stuck in a corporate office all day.
⠀
Software development is a type of work that is well suited for remote work, and there are many such offers.
⠀
Alternatively, you can start on your own — lead a freelancer lifestyle.
⠀
Then you combine excellent pay with the freedom to work from anywhere and set the hours yourself.

Most Internet users have heard of "blogging" and "blogging," but many people continue to misunderstand the world of blogs.
⠀
A blog is a platform that makes publishing articles on the internet accessible. These articles are usually called "Blog Posts" or "Posts" and are published in reverse chronological order.
⠀
A blog can be a website, but not all websites are blogs.
⠀
It is impossible to answer a question like "Is blogging free?" with yes or no.
⠀
The cost of blogging depends on your budget and your goals.
⠀
One of the critical reasons blogs exploded in the late 90s is that hosted blogging services didn't charge users to run a blog.
⠀
That remains true today.
⠀
If you need a place on the internet to share your thoughts with the whole world, there are many excellent blog hosting services, such as Medium and WordPress.com, which allow you to do this.
⠀
Keep in mind, however, that free blogging services will always be limited. They often show ads on your blog to profit from it. In addition, several free blogging services allow you to monetize your blog or use your domain for free.
⠀
This additional functionality is available for an additional fee on platforms such as WordPress.com. For example, on WordPress.com, you need to upgrade to a personal plan for $4 per month to remove ads and use your domain name. To unlock Google Analytics integration and other features, you need to upgrade to a premium plan that costs $8 per month.
⠀
When you add content to a blog, you can publish it via a blog entry or a page. That can be a bit confusing for new bloggers since there are a lot of similarities between these publication formats.
⠀
Generally speaking:
⠀
Blog posts should be used for timely content and published with a date so that others know when they were published.
Pages, such as your blog's contact page, should be used for static content.
Depending on the URL structure adopted by the blog and whether comments are included, readers may not notice the difference between a blog post and a page on your website. However, there are things to pay attention to in blog posts.
⠀
Posts are displayed in the blog index and the blog archives.
⠀
— The posts are included in the RSS feed of the blog.
⠀
— Messages can be published using a custom format, such as quotes, images, or videos.
⠀
— Messages usually display the author of the message.
⠀
— Messages usually display the date of publication.
⠀
— Posts are usually assigned blog tags and categories.
⠀
— Posts often allow visitors to leave comments (although the rise in popularity of social networks and an increase in the amount of spam in words has forced bloggers like me to disable comments).

Over the past decade, computers, the Internet, and mobile devices have turned from hard-to-access and undesirable things into a commodity. Although computer literacy is still relatively low, the need for it has also become much less than before. Rampant consumerism doesn't want people messing with products or even understanding how they work.
⠀
Hardware is a closed black hole that consumers agree with.
Mobile phones and laptops these days are not designed to be understood and customized. They exist for people to consume, buy, and throw things away when they get too slow. It's almost impossible to repair or upgrade any of them, and often you find that a 10-year-old machine in pristine condition that would be "good enough" doesn't even get the latest OS updates.
⠀
Interestingly, this also leads to the fact that developers are not chasing the newest and most excellent. We know many developers who have missed the last four phone, and laptop upgrade cycles, as what we have now seems more developer-oriented than newer machines that you can't even upgrade.
⠀
So, although developers have been good advisers to people in the past on which browser to choose, this need has evaporated. In most cases, this is a browser that comes with the OS or one that people have used for years. Users have a much deeper attachment to the services provided by browser companies than to the browser itself. Naturally, you use the browser of the same company that provides you with excellent opportunities to work with email and maps.
⠀
Undoubtedly, it is helpful to make developers more efficient and give them the tools they need to debug and optimize the products they create. However, you can't expect a great developer experience to become a massive end-user success. You need to find other ways to measure and get your company's support and investment in developers.
⠀
The excellent experience of the tool developers is converted into more end users, and more money comes only when you sell directly to developers. And even then, you must be lucky to find the golden mean of accessibility and usefulness. There are other, less tangible, or obvious ways to measure success, and I'll talk about them later in this series of articles.
