Հունիսի 22-ին հայ քանդակագործության մեծանուն վարպետներից մեկի՝ ՀՀ ժողովրդական նկարիչ Արտաշես Հովսեփյանի ծննդյան օրն է։

Իր անկրկնելի ստեղծագործական ձեռագրով նա առանձնահատուկ տեղ է զբաղեցնում հայկական մոնումենտալ արվեստի պատմության մեջ։ Արտաշես Հովսեփյանի արվեստին բնորոշ են կերպարների ներքին ուժը, ձևի հստակությունը և խոր արտահայտչականությունն, ինչի շնորհիվ վարպետի կոթողներից պարզապես անհնար է աչք կտրել։ Արտաշես Հովսեփյանը հերքեց բարձրաքանդակային և հարթաքանդակային արվեստում տիրապետող սխեմատիզմը և պլակատային մտածելակերպը՝ այդ ժանրերին հաղորդելով կենսունակություն և շարժություն։ Հաճախ նրա ստեղծագործություններում հայկական առասպելական հերոսները քարեղեն կերպարներն են դառնում` մարմնավորելով ազգային հիշողությունը ու ժողովրդական ավանդույթներն։

Երևանի կոնյակի գործարանի տարածքն ու ARARAT թանգարանը ևս կրում են նրա ստեղծագործական ներկայության կնիքը։ Արտաշես Հովսեփյանը հեղինակել է այստեղ տեղադրված մի շարք հարթաքանդակներ, հուշարձաններ և կիսանդրիներ, որոնք պատմում են հայ ժողովրդի պատմության, ավանդույթների և ստեղծագործ աշխատանքի մասին։

Սիսիանի Սառնակունք գյուղից հայկական արվեստի ամենաբարձր հարթակներ ձգված նրա ճանապարհը վկայում է տաղանդի, նվիրման և ստեղծագործ աշխատանքի բացառիկ ուժի մասին։ Ալեքսանդր Թամանյանի հուշարձանից մինչև Մայր Աթոռի, Սուրբ Սարգիս եկեղեցու, ARARAT-ի և բազմաթիվ այլ նշանակալի կոթողների քանդակային ձևավորումներ․ արվեստ, որն ամուր կապ է ստեղծում սերունդների միջև։

Այսօր սիրով հիշում և մեծարում ենք Արտաշես Հովսեփյանին՝ շնորհակալ լինելով այն մշակութային արժեքների համար, որոնք նա ժառանգել է Հայաստանին և որոնց մի մասն այսօր էլ ապրում է ARARAT-ի տարածքում՝ պատմելով վարպետի տաղանդի, ստեղծագործ մտքի և լուսավոր հոգու մասին։

June 22 marks the birthday of one of the great masters of Armenian sculpture, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia, Artashes Hovsepyan.

With his distinctive artistic vision, Artashes Hovsepyan occupies a special place in the history of Armenian monumental art. His works are characterized by inner strength, clarity of form, and profound expressiveness, qualities that make his monuments both compelling and unforgettable. Artashes Hovsepyan challenged the prevailing schematism and poster-like aesthetics that dominated relief sculpture, breathing vitality and dynamism into both high-relief and bas-relief forms. In many of his works, Armenian mythological heroes emerge as powerful stone figures, embodying the collective memory of the nation and the enduring spirit of its folk traditions.

The territory of Yerevan Brandy Company and ARARAT Museum oalso bear the imprint of his remarkable talent. Artashes Hovsepyan is the author of several bas-reliefs, monuments, and busts installed there, each reflecting the history, traditions, and creative spirit of the Armenian people. Particularly memorable are the bas-reliefs in the tasting hall, as well as the memorials dedicated to distinguished figures of Armenian brandy production, which have become an integral part of ARARAT’s cultural heritage.

His journey from the village of Sarnakunq in the Sisian region to the highest ranks of Armenian art stands as a testament to the power of talent, perseverance, and creative dedication. From the monument to Alexander Tamanyan to sculptural works created for the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, St. Sarkis Church, ARARAT, and many other landmark sites, Hovsepyan’s art continues to forge a meaningful connection between generations.

Today, we remember and honor Artashes Hovsepyan with gratitude and admiration, cherishing the cultural legacy he bequeathed to Armenia. Some of his works continue to live on within the ARARAT complex, bearing witness to the master’s extraordinary talent, creative vision, and enlightened spirit.
