Pentium 166 MHz with MMX technology.

Released in 1997, it was the first Intel chip to use the MMX technology. It is faster than a regular Pentium running at the same speed (even when running software not optimized for MMX) thanks to its larger L1 cache size. After the moderate success of this line of CPUs, Intel would quickly move on to the next generation of Slot 1 CPUs. AMD and Cyrix kept releasing Socket 7 processors until 1999.
