🎊 Ready to get inspired for EFA25? Here are some of our FAN projects! 💡

The Alpbach community is diverse, driven & ingenious. Every year, members of the Forum Alpbach Network (FAN) and beyond join forces to launch creative projects, initiatives & events. A few highlights from the past year:

🎂 FANniversary – On the 80th Forum anniversary, the FAN celebrates its own history with: a countdown campaign, the first book on FAN members & ideas, and FANniversary Goes Local – events connecting more closely with Alpbach locals.

🌊 Filter the Future – Launched by Club Alpbach France to fight marine litter (cigarette butts), presented at the UN Ocean Conference 2025 in Nice.

🤝 Cross-Border Dialogue – Clubs Alpbach Czechia Slovakia & Lower Austria co-hosted a conference & hackathon on border cooperation. Based on this, an association was founded to scale the format further.

🌐 Awareness campaigns – On Black History Month (Feb) & Orange the World (Nov/Dec), raising awareness, sharing knowledge & hosting events.

🧡 Feminist calling cards – Artworks & microfeminist calls to action turned into alternative “business cards” for EFA25 to critically reflect on gender bias in networking.

🩺 FAN Health Initiative – Filling the gap of health topics at the Forum with new events & projects.

🇪🇺 EU Elections 2024 – Events, youth dialogues, poster campaigns, recommendations for policymakers & more.

🐦 Palumba – One of the biggest Alpbach Ideas success stories: an app supporting first-time voters.

📷 Travelling exhibition – “They Took Away Our Voice”: photos & stories of young refugee women, paired with chats & events.

🐝 FANBehind the scenes: The work of the FAN Board 💙

The Forum Alpbach Network has two main organizing bodies: the FAN Board and the FAN Committee. The FAN Board coordinates the network’s activities throughout the year and for a 3-year-long mandate. The FAN Committee is elected annually and coordinates the network’s activities at the Forum. 💡

As of today, the FAN Board consists of 6 regular and 1 co-opted member: Jenni, Klaudie, Flo, Andi, Philipp, Dorotea and Maria. 🤝

The FANB has weekly online check-ins, monthly jours fixes with the FAN, a mentoring and buddy system for all Clubs/IGs, regular meetings with the EFA team and also with the different EFA advisory boards. As Chair and Vice-Chair of the FANB, Jenni and Klaudie also represent the voice of the youth on the EFA Board. 📣

On top of all this, the FANB gathers for a strategy weekend every half year to meet in a location of one of the board members and discuss strategic issues, the programming of the FAN Conferences, FAN working groups and other larger FAN projects in person. The FANB Strategy Retreat in autumn 2024 took place in Nesselwängle, Tyrol 🇦🇹, and the one in spring 2025 near Dubrovnik, Croatia 🇭🇷.
