There’s a leather from the rarities archive — one that was stored away many decades ago.

A customer falls in love with it and takes the entire stock that exists, dividing it up for himself and his wife, placing orders with all the workshops so that every last bit of the leather is used up.

And after more than a year of building shoes, suitcases, and belts, the work is complete — and everything that remains as leftovers, you see here on the left side. This is kept aside in case something ever needs repairing.

Every morning, before I head to my workshop on Bräunerstraße to build shoes, I stop by Zum Schwarzen Kameel for an espresso — my little ritual to ease into the day.

And honestly, it’s only half about the coffee.

What really draws me in is how Zum Schwarzen Kameel keeps reinventing itself while staying true to who it is — a place where four generations of guests feel at home at the same time.

That’s exactly the kind of thinking I aspire to in my own work, and it inspires me every single day.
