DEMIDOV 2-DAY INTENSIVE: FOUNDATIONS AND THE POWER OF CIRCUMSTANCES

This two-day intensive is for actors who want to keep training in the technique of creative freedom, and also for those who are new to the work.
In this intensive will work with Demidov’s unique approach to accessing our inner freedom, cultivating our intuition, perception, spontaneity and ability to surrender fully to our inner urges and the truth of our experience in the moment.

We will work with techniques central to Demidov’s art of living on stage and screen:
The Foundations – Demidov’s signature Etudes – the foundation and the apex of the whole Demidov School.

The Power of Circumstances – Circumstances, both known and unknown, are an enormously powerful, subtle and pervasive force that work through, transform and drive us, if we can learn how to immerse ourselves in them, bring them close to us and surrender to them.

The 2-day Intensive will be led by Demidov Studio Vienna Director Andrei Biziorek.

Demidov Acting Retreat – September 2026

The Demidov Acting Technique Retreat is unique anywhere in the world, created as a space to bring together actors from all corners of the world who are committed to diving more deeply into the technique that has been called the acting pedagogy of the future.

Following two successful annual Retreats in January in the beautiful mountains of Poland, we have decided to move the next Retreat to September, which will take place in 2026 in another beautiful location in the Czech Republic.

Over a five day period, actors will work individually, with partners, and as an ensemble. We will work on the foundations of the technique through the Demidov Etudes, as well as discovering the development and deepening of character and the power of circumstances, through work on scenes from a given play. In addition to the class work sessions, time will be allocated for discussions and sharing of observations about the ongoing process.

Participants will work in two groups, with the opportunity to alternate between them throughout the retreat. The two groups will then come together as one ensemble, uniting the work in a shared creative space in a spirit of mutual exchange and reflection. In true Demidov spirit, we are not concerned with the result, but only with the process.

Organised by Demidov Studio Vienna, in collaboration with two other Demidov studios: Demidov Studio London and Demidov Studio Athens.

Teachers for the Retreat will be Andrei Biziorek, Director of Demidov Studio Vienna and Demidov Studio London, and Vicky Georgiadou, Director of Demidov Studio Athens.

These improvisational exercises with a given text train in us the ability to surrender to the free flow of our inner life, our subconscious creativity. We then discover how character, circumstances and relationships arise on their own, without our conscious interference. We become more creatively free, spontaneous and able to truly live in the moment.

The Power of Circumstances – Circumstances, both known and unknown, are an enormously powerful, subtle and pervasive force that work through, transform and drive us, if we can learn how to immerse ourselves in them, bring them close to us and surrender to them. In this intensive, drawing on the principle of Inexact or Creative Repetition, we will get a taste of the transformative power of circumstances – and how effortlessly our life as character unfolds as a result.

The 2-day Intensive will be led by Demidov Studio Vienna Director Andrei Biziorek.
