Soooo what’s the actual difference?

Craft is following the steps to make the thing on the box. Twenty children, twenty identical results. The adult already knows what it will look like before it starts.

Creativity is the child making the decisions. What colour. What goes where. What to do when it doesn’t work the first time.

A child who looks “not creative” has almost always only ever been handed craft.

That’s why we don’t hand out templates. In small groups, with qualified early childhood educators beside them, our 3 to 6 year olds decide. They choose, they change their minds, they problem solve, they try again.

Some days they take home something beautiful. Some days they take home something you cannot quite identify. Both are a good day, because the artwork was never the point.

The point is a child who can make a decision and back themselves.
