Join us for the Healthy Development Adelaide (HDA) and Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Women's and Children's Health Network Grand Round on Strengthening Aboriginal Families: An overview of the Aboriginal Communities and Families Health Research Alliance (ACRA) projects and key findings from Corka Bubs.

ACRA is within the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and supports Aboriginal communities, researchers and services to drive culturally grounded research that strengthens the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal families. Through partnership and leadership, ACRA focuses on research translation into practical improvements across perinatal, child, family, and adolescent health.

This presentation is an overview of the ACRA projects with a focus on Corka Bubs – a strengths-based multi service partnership that connected pregnant women with support for stress, yarndi and alcohol use.

OUR SPEAKER
A/Professor Yvonne Clark is a Kokatha/Wirangu woman with 40+ years of experience working with Aboriginal communities in South Australia. She holds a PhD and MA in Clinical Psychology, with her doctoral research focused on lateral violence in the Aboriginal community.

A/Professor Clark has extensive experience across clinical, community, government, university and non profit sectors, with a strong focus on supporting children, adolescents and families.

Since joining SAHMRI in 2018, she has served as Co lead of ACRA and has been awarded multiple awards and NHMRC grants, including EL1 and EL2 Investigator Grants for her work on empowerment and improving wellbeing and preventing lateral violence, as well as strengthening early social and emotional development. She leads major projects such as ICARE and Care and Connect Pathways. A/Professor Clark is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a co-chair of an APS Interest group, and a Director on the Australian Indigenous Psychologist Association.

How do children aged 4-12 interpret what they watch on YouTube?

Researchers want to hear from you and your child! You will be invited to complete a 10 minute demographic survey, then you will be invited to participate in a 45 minute interview with your child.

Eligibility criteria:
• Parents/caregivers and their child aged 4-12 years
• Able to communicate in English
• Lives in South Australia

This study is being undertaken by Sophie Crouch at Adelaide University.

Join us for the Healthy Development Adelaide (HDA) and Australian Association for Infant Mental Health (AAIMH) SA branch forum on Ways of supporting attunement in parents and infants and its significance for development and learning.

As Infant Mental Health Awareness Week approaches (8-14 June) this year’s theme is ‘Attunement’. Attunement is the ability to tune in and connect with others on an emotional level. Attunement is particularly crucial for babies and their parents or carers, as it helps infants feel safe, loved, and able to regulate their emotions.

Thank you to the WCH Foundation and our wonderful speakers who presented last week at our International Nurses Day 2026 co-hosted forum on Advancing Care: Nurse-Led Research and Innovation in Action.

The forum was chaired by Dr Chelsea Mauch, Head of Programs & Impact, Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation.

We are very proud of our nurses and the outstanding care and work they do with children and families. Our nurses are often the first to recognise where change is needed – and the ones best placed to design solutions that work.
