My research on preverbal trauma continues; I have had a pause on my research project due to the long waiting of an ethical approval. Finally, I restarted the journey this month. I am about to interview 6 foster/adoptive parents whose children experienced trauma before the age of 3. This is an arts based qualitative research project where I am guided by a somatic body map to explore how this research unfolds in my body. I am guided by .annette who has been my somatic body map mentor and supervisor in this journey. She asked me what could be a talisman for me in this journey. I keep coming back to images of a womb, nest, and a warm place. I came up with an image of an oxygen mask when I was guided what to protect me in this research. I have been experiencing second traumatisation just by reading case studies of children and I feel breathless most of the time when I read the literature. So I'm unfolding what this oxygen mask can look like now.
