This NAIDOC Week, we're proud to celebrate Doug, a proud Ngarrindjeri man and a valued member of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network - NALHN Aboriginal Health team.

Doug has dedicated the past 22.5 years to supporting Aboriginal Health as a driver, providing more than just transport. Through his kindness, reliability and genuine care, he has helped countless Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people access the care they need while building trust and meaningful connections along the way.

Doug's pride in his Ngarrindjeri heritage and his ongoing commitment to serving community are deeply appreciated. His contribution reminds us that every role in healthcare plays an important part in creating culturally safe, welcoming and connected services.

Thank you, Doug, for your dedication, your generosity, and the positive impact you continue to make every day.

Every year, NAIDOC Week honours the strength, resilience, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks a powerful milestone, honouring the Elders, leaders, and communities who have paved the way and continue to inspire future generations. 🖤💛❤️

David, a resident at Strathalbyn and District Health Service, is one of South Australia's living artistic treasures. 🎨

His distinctive landscape paintings capture the beauty and solitude of the Coorong, one of his favourite places.

His work has been exhibited around the world, and even purchased by royalty, with a Coorong scene hanging at Buckingham Palace.

Yet at 93, David remains just as likely to donate a painting to his local community. His pieces are displayed throughout Strathalbyn and District Health Service, including the ones pictured here.

Thank you for sharing your art with us, David.

The Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) helps regional South Australian communities and families who need to travel for specialist medical care.

The scheme provides financial subsidies to assist patients who need to travel more than 100km each way to access necessary, approved medical specialist services that aren’t available locally.

PATS’s new improvements apply to all eligible transport and accommodation from 1 July 2026.
