🥇Used to coach Olympians.
🚀 Mentored start-ups.
đź’Ą Chased wins on the world stage.
But now?
At 77 — with cancer in my body but freedom in my soul —
I’ve learned:
> Winning is unrestrained living.
Doing what I love.
Believing what I choose.
Helping who I can.
✨ That’s wealth.
✨ That’s freedom.
✨ That’s my mantra.

SHARK SPOTTING FAILURE: 7 YEARS LOST
Shane Yeend's Vision – 8 Years Ago vs. Current
South Australia could have led the world in shark detection and beach safety.
8 years ago, we proposed an AI-integrated system using tethered surveillance balloons, drones, and machine vision in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University. It would’ve given us 24/7 aerial coverage, real-time shark detection, and automated emergency response. It was ready to go.
Instead?
We got a few off-the-shelf drones from JB HiFi, rushed out by others the day before launch — and the rest was shelved.
7 years on, we’re still relying on small fixed-wing aircraft, flying limited hours and using the naked eye to spot sharks.
Meanwhile, surveillance balloons (Helikites) could be monitoring our beaches right now, even in CASA-restricted areas. They work in tandem with drones, AI and social alerts to save lives — instantly, accurately, and continuously.
We don’t need to start again. The plan exists. The tech is proven. The risk is real.
It’s time to stop talking and start flying.

“Many Paths to the Flame”
This image speaks to something deep in my soul.
It shows what I believe:
That no matter who or what you call God —
Whether it’s Spirit, the Land, the Light, or Love itself —
There are many paths that lead us there.
And all deserve respect.
Here, sitting together in peace, are some of the world’s greatest teachers:
Buddha, Jesus, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Rumi, Confucius, Lao Tzu, Saint Francis, Indigenous Elders —
Not debating — but listening, learning, sharing.
Like a sacred council across time and tradition.
> “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” — Rumi
“To know what you know and what you do not know — that is true knowledge.” — Confucius
“The Earth does not belong to us — we belong to the Earth.” — Chief Seattle
“We are all flowers in the Great Spirit’s garden.” — Lakota Proverb
These words — from the East, the West, the Desert, the Forest —
All echo the same truth:
That the Divine speaks in many voices.
And we’re better off when we listen to all of them.
I’ve written a fuller reflection on this called “The Book of Many Paths”, soon to be shared on Substack and as a voiceover video.
It’s not a sermon — it’s a remembering.
Because maybe…
We were never meant to agree on everything.
But we were always meant to sit in the circle together.
If this speaks to you, feel free to share it.
Let’s honour the many ways people find meaning, healing, and holiness.
Let’s walk gently. Let’s listen deeply. Let’s keep the flame alive.

After the stillness of Easter Saturday, the sun rises — and with it, so can we.
Like the sunflower, we don’t need to understand everything.
We just need to keep turning toward the light.
This Easter, may you rise gently, quietly… but with strength.
For those walking through pain, uncertainty, or healing — there is hope yet.
