We acknowledge the ongoing diphtheria outbreak affecting communities across the Northern Territory and other parts of northern Australia.

Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection that can affect the throat, airways and skin. Vaccination remains the most effective protection against severe illness and helps protect families, Elders and communities.

We recognise the impact this outbreak is having on the communities affected, as well as on many of our team members who live and work across northern Australia and support these communities every day.

If you are unsure of your vaccination status, speak with your local health service, GP or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO).
