Right, I've been holding this in for a few weeks, I have only gone and written a short film!

A 10-minute dark comedy called LATCH: a hitman, a ranger, and one very inconvenient car door. It's all about the flies and the lies.

It's been selected (with three other teams) for Screen Territory's SPARK Short Film Initiative 2026. We shoot in early July outside Alice Springs and the film world-premieres at the SPARK showcase in Darwin in September.

The cast and crew is wild. Trisha Morton-Thomas and Pedrea Jackson are playing our leads. Dylan River is shooting it. David Tranter on sound. Greg Haddrick is mentoring me on the script. Honestly, I'm completely over the moon that I've actually written something. Mat Phillips is editing, being mentored by Chris Plummer! Jesse Tyssen, first time directing, mentored by Dylan!

Jez Conlon, Left Of Elephant, is doing the sound and music design. Aiofe Murray is doing HMU, plus costumes, Alan Pfau is doing props, and hopefully roped her dad into helping with unit. Nathen Wiles is coming on as 1AC, and Shane Mulcahey is also on board. So a really solid team!

SPARK gives us a great foundation, but only about $22K of the headline funding actually reaches production, and the film genuinely costs around $55K to make properly. Insurance on $300K of camera gear, freight from interstate, two days of cast and crew wages, location, music, sound design, catering for a desert shoot post production. It adds up fast.

So I'm running a fundraising campaign through the Australian Cultural Fund to raise the $22,000 gap.

Every dollar goes to paying the people doing the work. All donations are fully tax-deductible.

So proud to be part of this team. It was an incredible project to work on, and something I am really proud of.

Congratulations to Savage Films and Brindle Films, winners of the Feature Documentary Production of the Year Award for Journey Home: David Gulpilil at the 24th Annual 🏆

Oh my word, that is not the best image of me, especially when the background has been removed! Anywho! That’s me, going global (ish).
