The acid mantle is a naturally secreted, thin, protective film that covers your skin and is your skin’s own natural moisturiser. However, our skin’s barrier is not enough to maintain adequate moisture levels in the skin. Our environment, artificial heating and cooling, the sun and harsh weather weaken the acid mantle and can cause the skin to lose a lot of moisture.
Also every time you cleanse your skin you remove some of the skin’s oils, weakening the acid mantle. You need to replenish and reinforce the acid mantle with a good skin care cream. Dr Spiller oil-based creams are scientifically proven to maintain moisture levels in the skin much longer. They have also been found to deliver active ingredients into the skin far more effectively than water-based creams (which is the majority of what is out there!! REMEMBER our skin is WATERPROOF) ✨
