Have you ever wondered what a Marriage Celebrant would write to their Wife on the day of their 5 year wedding anniversary?

Well you don’t have to anymore, because on the 5th of August 2023, I wrote this letter to my amazing Alana.

She is the strong woman, mother to the greatest gifts to my world and ultimately my best friend who is the backbone of my life, so that I can live a life full of love, joy and awe - so that I too can go out to the world and bring to life the stories that are behind some of the most amazing and real couples in this world.

Dear Alana,

Happy Anniversary Honey!

We have been together for a while now, we are growing stronger everyday, it feels so good and there is no doubt I will stay with you.

Today marks 11 years to the day since I took you to the waterfront in my Mum and Dad’s motorhome, where I asked you to be my girlfriend.

11 years of friendship, memories and love - the best god damn 11 years of my life!

5 years ago today, I was fortunate enough to be able to put a visible sign of the love and commitment that we share together, on your finger for the rest of our lives.

I will never forget that one sleepless night where I came across “R Kelly’s - forever”, 6 weeks into working at Sandhills. I knew I was in new unfamiliar waters when it came to my life at that point. For once in my life I was deviating from the plan, unconsciously working towards a new identity and chasing the unknown - in a way it was scary, this could either make or break me.

All I knew that in 6 short weeks of knuckling down, working hard and selling the s**t out of the magazine, I had felt on top of the world… until I came across the lyrics of “forever”.
