🔌 Patch Cable vs Crossover Cable: Do You Know the Difference?

Crossover Cable

Old-school cable used to connect similar devices directly, like:
• PC → PC
• Switch → Switch (before auto MDI-X existed)

Most modern switches automatically correct for this, so crossover cables are almost unnecessary today — but if you use one accidentally, nothing will link up.
